Can you learn Spanish and Catalan with more than just books?

Throughout my experience teaching languages, I have found that some students are not keen readers of books. However, when I ask, “Do you like reading, or do you read regularly?”, the answer is usually yes.

When I follow up with “What was the last book you read?”, things get more complicated. Today, readers mainly consume content online: articles and social media posts built around written communication. This habit can be an excellent resource in a Spanish or Catalan course adapted to your level.

Reading Spanish and Catalan in the digital age

In my tailored Spanish and Catalan lessons, I encourage students to keep their digital reading habits but change the language. Anything they read in their first language can also be explored in Spanish or Catalan. This is a key element of a personalised method for learning Spanish or Catalan, since it helps students pick up vocabulary naturally.

Reading articles related to their profession also introduces valuable specialist vocabulary. For learners who need stronger language skills at work, I offer Spanish and Catalan courses for companies and business-focused classes using material adapted to their sector.
