Barcelona brings you into daily contact with Catalan: you see it on signs and documents, hear it in conversations and encounter it at school or at work. In-person classes help you turn this exposure into understanding and gain the skills to start using the language.
I work with A1–C2 students in Barcelona and nearby areas. Lessons are tailored to what you already know, the languages you speak and the situations in which you want to understand or express yourself in Catalan.
Words and structures are easier to remember when you link them to a real experience. In class we examine familiar situations and practise responses that you’ll then recognise in your daily environment.
We also work on understanding different voices and speaking speeds. The aim isn’t just to understand your teacher, but to build strategies for following real conversations and asking for clarification when needed.
Face-to-face contact makes it easier to see how sounds are produced and receive immediate corrections. We’ll practise pronunciation as part of communication, using words in purposeful phrases, questions and conversations.
If you speak Spanish, French, Italian or another Romance language, you’ll find useful similarities. You’ll also encounter differences in pronunciation, vocabulary and sentence structure worth recognising. Rather than ignoring these links, we’ll use them to learn more consciously and avoid recurring mistakes.
Content can focus on social relationships, workplace communication, following your children’s school life or understanding everyday messages and administrative tasks. The course is built around the situations where you need the language.
Between lessons, you can notice, listen to and collect examples from your surroundings. Then we’ll review them in class to expand your vocabulary and understand how Catalan is used.
